Striped Gradient Matching Sock Sets!

We have spent several months developing a brand new unique dyeing technique that allows us to create perfectly matching striped gradient sock sets!  We are now offering these four exciting colorways:

Our striped gradient sock sets come in two perfectly matched half-skeins.  Both half-skeins are dyed simultaneously so that you can knit an identical pair of socks.  The striping sequence is about 3 rounds (depending on gauge) of black and about 8 rounds of a gradient that slowly changes to reveal 7 different colors from toe to cuff.  The sock sets are offered in 300-yard and 400-yard lengths, and the prices vary depending on length and yarn base.

You can choose among the following 4 yarn bases for our striped gradient sock sets:

  1.  Big Sky Base
  2.  Yellowstone Base
  3.  Swan Lake Silk Base
  4.  Bighorn BFL Base

Here are more photos of the four initial colorways:

Cute Cable Baby Socks Pattern

We are excited to publish a new knitting pattern, called “Cute Cable Baby Socks”.  This is a cuff-down baby sock pattern that incorporates a simple cable and is written with beginning sock knitters in mind.  The pattern uses the same materials and construction as most adult sock patterns (with heel flap and gusset) but on a much smaller, less time-consuming scale.  Here is it, shown in our newest colorway called “Wee Ones.”  You may purchase the “Wee Ones” mini skein (100 yards in 23 grams) and the pattern at our Etsy shop.

January 2018 Shop Update

We will be adding a couple of brand new self-striping colorways and a few returning favorites to our shop update on January 26, 2018, at 6:00 pm, mountain time —

My Bloody Valentine

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we are bringing back My Bloody Valentine, inspired by the 1981 horror movie.  Dyed on our Big Sky Base, the stripes are approximately 5 rows each of coal mining gray, bloody red, mine shaft black, don’t break my heart light pink, candy box dark pink, and Valentine’s party purple.  “Roses are red, violets are blue, one is dead, and so are you.”

2018 Winter Olympics

In February, the world will watch as amazing athletes compete in the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.  We have dyed an inversible set of two half-skeins (215 yards each; 430 yards total) that depict the Olympic rings and the diversity of nations and talents at the games.  Dyed on our Big Sky Base, one half-skein will consist of 2 rows of each color of the Olympic rings (blue, red, green, black and yellow) surrounded by 4 rows of speckles, and the other half-skein will be the inverse (4 rows of each color of the Olympic rings surrounded by 2 rows of speckles).  Go Team USA!

Gothic Rainbow

After a long absence, we have brought back one of our most popular colorways — Gothic Rainbow.  We have dyed this muted rainbow colorway on our Big Sky Base, and the striping is approximately 3 rows each of gloomy purple, mysterious orange/red, decaying flesh, medieval moss, mysterious green, cloudy sky, 12th century black, and gothic gray.  The muted lush colors of this yarn are simply gorgeous, if we must say so ourselves!

Sisters

An interesting color combination resulted from each of us sisters selecting three of our favorite colors and combining them into one colorway.  “Sisters” has been dyed on our Big Sky Base, and it consists of 5 rows each of dark magenta, periwinkle, pink, dark teal, purple, and navy blue.

Ribbon Candy

Inspired by the eye-catching colors of the classic candy, the self-striper “Ribbon Candy” is available on our Big Sky Base.  The striping consists of 5 rows of grape striped candy, wrapped up in 5 rows of brown paper bag, followed by 5 rows of orange striped candy, wrapped up in 5 rows of brown paper bag, followed by 5 rows of sour green apple candy, wrapped up in 5 rows of brown paper bag.

Road Trippin’

It’s summertime, so it’s time for some road trippin’!  Our Etsy shop update on Friday, June 23, 2017, will feature four new colorways (see below) and a re-stocking of several of our most popular colorways.

Road Trippin’

Miles of blacktop separate colorful roadside stops in this fun-filled self-striper.  This yarn was dyed on our Big Sky Base, and the colored stripe names are based on a road trip we took from Billings, Montana to Denver, Colorado over Memorial Day weekend — Billings to Sheridan (green), Sheridan to Casper (mint green), Casper to Cheyenne (pink), Cheyenne to Fort Collins (red), and Fort Collins to Denver (purple).  The miles will fly by with this one!

Party In My Mailbox

Dyed on our Stillwater Sparkle Base, this variegated colorway was named after a segment on one of our favorite podcasts — Grocery Girls Knit.  Tracie and Jodi love receiving yarn, patterns, and knitting accessories, and they share the items on their podcast in their “Party In My Mailbox” segment.  So, party on with this super fun colorway!

Singin’ the Blues

You’ll be singin’ the blues with this six color self-striper, which was dyed on our Big Sky Base.

Boys Just Wanna Have Fun

Jewel tone colors and neutrals form the basis for this 5-color self-striping colorway.  Dyed on our Big Sky Base, the striping sequence consists of six rows each of black, dark maroon, light gray, blue and green.

Good Day Sunshine and New Zebra Minis!

We are excited to add several brand new colorways to our Etsy shop on Friday, May 12, 2017.  We will also be updating several older colorways.  Check them out!

Good Day Sunshine

Spring has sprung, and the sun is finally peeking out of the clouds after this very long Montana winter.  “Good Day Sunshine”, the 1966 Paul McCartney tune, is the latest in our Beatles collection of self-striping yarn.  This 6-color self-striper was dyed on our Big Sky Base and features five rows each of bright sun, strawberry pink, mellow sun, minty grass, water splashin’, and cool nights.  Throw on some contrasting heels and toes with our new black and white “Zebra” Sister Sidekick mini skeins (see below).

“Zebra” Sister Sidekicks

We have just come out with new self-striping mini skeins!  These black and white self-striping minis will go with almost every color of sock yarn.  Dyed on our Big Sky Base, the mini self-stripers consist of 5 rows of white and 5 rows of black – hence the name – “Zebra Sister Sidekicks”.  Each mini skein is approximately 54 yards and 10 grams.

Golden Ticket

Remember Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?  The chocolate brown stripe and the gold sparkles in this colorway reminded us of that movie – the original, released in 1971.  This 7-color self-striper was dyed on our Stillwater Sparkle base and consists of 4 rows each of Charlie Bucket, Golden Ticket, chocolate Wonka bars, Oompa-Loompas, Grandpa Joe, the Candy Man, and Violet Beauregarde.  “We have so much time and so little to see.  Wait a minute!  Strike that, reverse it.  Thank you.”  Willy Wonka.

Pretty in Pink

Do you love pink as much as we do?  If so, you will need to snap up this pink beauty.  Dyed on our Big Sky Base, this 6-color self-striper boasts 5 rows each of bubble gum, pink starburst, strawberry jam, cotton candy, nougat, and cherries.

You’re A Grand Old Flag

First introduced in 2015, we have brought back this unique self-striper just in time for your 4th of July festivities.  The red, white and blue waves patriotically on this 8-stripe self-striper that will be available on a pre-order basis in our Etsy shop on May 12th.  All orders will be shipped in early June.  This colorway was dyed on our Big Sky Base, and the striping sequence is 2 rows of independence red, 2 rows of Betsy Ross white, 2 rows of independence red, 2 rows of Betsy Ross white,  2 rows of independence red, 2 rows of Betsy Ross white, 2 rows of independence red, and 10 rows of star-spangled blue.  Each skein will come with a “Sister Sidekick” heel/toe mini skein in star-spangled blue.

Stained Glass Masquerade

This was one of our first popular self-striping colorways, so it was definitely time to re-dye it.  Mixing the black and gray stripes with the primary color stripes reminded us of stained glass.  “Stained Glass Masquerade,” named after a song by the Christian band Casting Crowns, has been dyed on our Big Sky Base, and it consists of six stripes, five rows each, of alternating primary and black/gray colors.

New Variegated Yarn

We will also be adding these new variegated colorways to our shop:  Kaleidoscope (left) and Stormy Skies (right).  Both of these colorways were kettle dyed on our Yellowstone Base.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
